Go Ride session update – 30 January 2013

Last week

There was no last week unfortunately as even the reserve date was cancelled due to impending snowmageddon, that didn’t come.

Race update

A few riders have been out competing. Molly Williams took first place in the junior female category of the Whyte winter series last weekend, coming in ahead of the second placed rider by over half an hour!

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Cyclocross league, Sophie Saberton placed 19th overall, but 2nd girl in the U12 category, whilst her big sister Emma took the silver medal in the youth category as 28th overall, again the second female. In the Eastern League, the best 8 results (from 14 races) count and the girls competed in ten of them, showing massive dedication as they are not exactly local to us!

Next session

This weekend, we are lucky to have Mark Wyer joining us from British Cycling to run through a cyclocross specific session with one of the groups so we may have some juggling round depending on numbers. Don’t panic if you haven’t got a cyclocross bike as it is not essential – you can use your normal mountain bike.

Session starts at 10am (finishing at 11.30) so please be there a little bit early if possible. As always, please bring a water based drink and a helmet. Sessions will unfortunately increase slightly to £3 this year though.

And finally…

Velodrome time again at Manchester for a few experienced riders on 10th February. Very excited about how this is developing.

I look forward to seeing many of you on Saturday on shiny clean bikes ready for the year ahead!
