Club Run Report – Route 37 – Milton Earnest

A good fast A group ride. Set off with approx. 12 in the group which stayed together almost right throughout the ride. It was an uneventful run out to cafe stop, if tough at times in the head/cross wind.

Good stop (I was at the front of the queue so did not get delayed by the rather slow service!).

Very workmanlike group riding throughout, solid & well controlled stuff. There was a split in the peloton after the climb out of St. Neots, the altitude had got to Gary’s bladder & as he took a call of nature, others decided to press on & take advantage of the tail wind (last 10 mile rule applies!)

We must have cut an impressive sight as we bowled back through Graveley & along the babies bum smooth road surface to the A1198 urged on by the wind at almost 40 MPH!

Lack of concentration by me (oxygen deprivation?) almost took me out after crossing the A14, I decided to try a little off-roading, perhaps not advisable at C. 30MPH! Fortunately I got back onto the black stuff without any harm.

All-in-all a very good, brisk ride. Good to see John out on a bike again (coming the other way into Graveley) & not letting a small incident like a bad crash last week keep him down!

Otherwise I understand there was a rider who initially set out with the B’s, dropped back to the C’s & then suffered a medical problem.  Many Thanks to the C group Moira, Sharon & Hugh for dealing with this & changing their ride plans. I hope you were still able to enjoy the ride despite this.
