Go Ride session update

We have two sessions again this week.

Off road at Hinchingbrooke Park, between 10.00 am and 11.30 am.

Road bikes at Alconbury Weald between 2pm and 3pm. Don’t forget to use the new entrance off the roundabout. We will be on the main runway.

Track

Track Superclub sessions are continuing at Lee Valley (indoor) and Welwyn (Outdoor) where Sophie and Sam are continuing to represent the club in Friday night track league.

I need to put in the nominations for Block 3 at Welwyn by Monday 14th July. Please let me have your rider nominations for Block 3 at Welwyn (27th July & 3rd August) as soon as possible. Please also note that there is a Go Ride race at LVVP on Saturday 2nd August; more information and entry is via the BC website.

MTB

MSG5 just happened on another warm day at Radical Bikes in Chelmsford, a great new venue for the series. Holly and Sapphire competed on the technical circuit with loads  of bomb holes that left little room for overtaking, with both girls getting on the podium for St Ives. Holly came 2nd in youth / juvenile, whilst Sapphire came 3rd in the U12 girls.

Road circuit

The ERYCS series continued with Round 5 at Newmarket Wild-tracks, Holly winning the juvenile (2nd in youth / juvenile). As a result Holly is currently leading the series for St Ives, with Sophie in 5th and Sam in 13th place in youth B girls. Lotti Knights is currently 14th in youth C girls despite having only competed in one race, the St Ives Nocturne, where she finished 4th. Rhys is currently 34th in youth D boys and Sapphire and Bea are 3rd and 5th respectively in youth D girls.

Time trial

The new course is continuing to prove popular, with Alex, CC, Holly, Sam, Sophie and Zach all enjoying the challenge. PBs continue to fall on a regular basis as the riders get more used to the new course with its twists, turns and hills!

Cyclocross

Don’t forget that the Eastern League 2014/15 dates have been released (see http://www.easterncross.org.uk/league.htm) so get them in your diaries.

Grass track

Malcolm Jacklin’s grasstrack race nights are back again. These will be held as Go ride racing over on South Bretton playing fields, behind Ringwood, off Bretton Way. The remaining dates will be on 11th July and 8th August, with entries taken on the night, and for £4 you will get at least two races each. There will be both fixed and freewheel races and these events are suitable for newcomers to racing and refreshments will be available, as will the changing facilities. Registration will be open until 6.45 with racing to start at 7.00. Any questions, please contact Malc directly on helen.malc@ntlworld.com.

St Ives CC Go Ride race series?

I know I mentioned this last time and thank you to those who have offered to help. Given the growth of the club and our increased participation in regional and national events, I would like to be look into promoting more Go Ride Racing later in the year as a stepping stone. I anticipate these would be held once a month on a regular Go Ride day, but we will need the help of a team of volunteers for various duties, both prior to and during the event. I don’t anticipate it will take a lot of time but please let me know if you are interested in helping to make this happen.

Future dates

These are advertised on the website, www.stivescycling.org.uk.  so please keep an eye on this, just in case I don’t get an email out for any reason.

And finally

I don’t normally mention triathlon results as it is not directly related to us, but St Ives riders put in a great show recently at Cambridge Tri. Five junior members took part on Sunday: Dom and Bea, Ben and Lottie Knights, and Connie Porter. I don’t have full results but we do know that Bea got on the podium in her category. Well done to all!
