Evening TT results

With the threat of rain, high winds and large number of cancellations, everyone who turned up on the night rode the standard 10m rather than the planned 15m 2up. Those that did turn up were rewarded with surprisingly favourable conditions and a tail wind up Alconbury Hill.   Finally Jack Burgin gets a win on the night finishing in 23.00 and taking 38 seconds off his previous best .This again was on a standard road bike, but there should be quicker times to come as Jack informs us he’s got a TT bike now! Ken Rolland was second on the night in 23.50. A brilliant ride by Kevin Hearn to finish third in 24.21. Under the guidance of work mate Gary Stevens and after arming himself with a set of TT bars, skin-suit and aero helmet, Kevin took almost 2 minutes on his previous best!

Other improvers on the night were Dan Metcalf-Hall, (one of two hand cyclists and riding his second evening TT), Sean Purser, Chris Penney, Clive Barton and Cy Gearing of BRJ. I should also mention Kevin Cummings, who at the age of 60 has started time trials for the first time this year and turns up almost every week. His hard work has seen him go from just under 32 mins in the first event, to then beat his target for the year of breaking the 30 min barrier a few weeks ago and now takes another 54 seconds off his best. Three pairs rode on the night, with all riders easily posting their fastest times of the year. Phil Oxborough (a former 24h national TT champion) and James Warriner were the quickest, and it was good to see Martin & Graham riding the TT for the first time this year too.

Thanks to the following for assisting on the night:

Timekeepers/Starters: Mick Butler, Colin Brooker & Dave Pope
