St Ives CC Go Ride Cyclocross Success

The St Ives CC Go Ride team had a busy weekend racing at three different cyclocross events this weekend.

Cecilia Hime, age 15, battled through the mud at round 3 of the National Trophy Cyclocross series at Hetton Lyons Country Park in Tyne and Wear. She came 13th in the Junior Womens category.

Round 8 of the Central Cyclocross League was held in the picturesque Dinton Pastures Country Park in Wokingham. Beatrice Pauley, age 12, came first in the U14 girls race, her 2nd win in a row after winning round 7 at Shuttleworth College last week. Brother Dominic Pauley, age 10, came 8th in the U12 boys race.

St Ives CC secured a hat trick of 2nd places at round 12 of the Eastern Region League at Hempton. Orla Kenna, age 9, came 2nd in the U10 girls race. This follows her win at round 11 at Bury St Edmonds last weekend. Ruby O’Dell, age 7, came 2nd in the U8 girls race and Sapphire Curtis, age 12, came 2nd in the U14 girls race.

Nathan Gibson, age 15, had an early crash but still finished 8th in the U16 boys race despite suffering a mechanical and a bloody leg.

The St Ives CC Go Ride Club meets every Saturday and alternates between an off-road session at Hinchingbrooke Park and a road session at Alconbury Weald. The sessions are for children aged between 6-16. If you are interested in joining please contact stivescc.goride@gmail.com
