Round 2 of the Mud, Sweat and Gears

The St Ives CC team have had a successful day of racing at round 2 of the Mud Sweat and Gears Eastern Region MTB league today. The race was held on a brand new course at the Phoenix Bike Park in Kentford in Suffolk. This technical course proved a challenge with its steep descents, twists and turns.

St Ives CC claimed 2 podiums today. Nathan Gibson, age 15, came 3rd in the Youth Male race. Sapphire Curtis, age 12, came 3rd in the Juvenile Female category.

The Falkners made it a family affair with dad Leo coming 9th out of 80 competitors in the Open Male category. Youngest son, Ralf Falkner, age 11, just missed out on a podium coming 4th in the Juvenile Male category whilst brother Max, age 14, came 16th in the Juvenile Boys race.

Orla Kenna, age 9, came 5th in the U12 Girls race and Lily Gibson, age 12, came 12th in the same race. Ruby O’Dell came 6th in the Under 9 Girls race. Ian Megginson came 19th and Mick Curtis came 68th in the Open Male category.
