Club Time Trial – 6 June

21 riders this week and although most were expecting to be slower than last week that wasn’t the case.
Tim Phillips was fastest and posted another personnel best. His time of 22.07 is one second quicker than Jack Burgins PB and is now the third fastest time by a St Ives CC member on that course. Adrian Beer set another personnel best and finished second in 22.29. Third place and riding a standard road bike was Jack Burgin in 23.36. Jacob Wood was the fastest junior male.
Fastest woman was Cece Hime, knocking around half a minute off her previous best in 27.32. Sarah Kelman was second fastest women in 28.20 and Holly Hoy third in 28.22.
Well done to both Dan and Jacob for riding their first ever time trials. Dan usually rides in the B- group on Sunday club runs and Jacob is only 12 years old. Congratulations to Bea who cracked 30 mins for the first time. She is just 14 years old and averaged over 20 mph on a hilly and slow TT course! Bob set another PB although he had the use of two cleats this week rather than one. Martin has ridden previously for Ramsey CC, but has also joined St Ives CC this year and set a PB. Chris and Mike posted their best times for a couple of years. Club Chairman and founder Tony also posted his fastest time of the year by nearly a minute.
I might look at compiling a league table of fastest times over the coming weeks. Other than a few very quick times I don’t have a record of times set on the course for previous years, so if you would like your PB to be included let me know. I might also look at doing either a longer TT one night (two laps past Spiceland rather than one) or having a week where only standard road bikes are allowed. If anyone is interested or has suggestions for doing something different let me know.
Thanks to Esther Pauley, last weeks results can be found in the Hunt Post paper or online by clicking on the link below:
The planned St Ives CC open 10m TT on 30th June has been cancelled due to roadworks. Team Salesengine are running a time trial using the motor racing circuit at Rockingham Speedway that day with prizes for those using both TT and road bikes. All ages are welcome and details can be found at the link below:
